Katie S and Stephen Riddick completed a masterful run on Wednesday, October 28, by claiming CSP’s 2015 Cornhole Cup. The pair earned the title by winning an intense, back-and-forth match over Ann Chavez and Tommy Williams in the Cup Finals. The title bout was a fitting conclusion to a competitive and entertaining tournament. Eight teams, based upon random partner drawings, competed in this month-long event. The finals was a microcosm of the tournament, highlighted by skillful play, friendly banter and intense competition.
In the finals, Ann and Tommy got off to a fast start and took a commanding 14-9 advantage. Both teams then heated up with some epic tosses and rebuttals. Ultimately, Katie and Stephen fought back to within one point, 19-18. Katie then clinched the title with an unforgettable walk-off “Ringer,” making the final score 21-19.
After opening the Champagne, an ecstatic Stephen exclaimed: “I’m so proud of the way Katie came through in the Finals. It was a clutch performance. I also tip my hat to Tommy and Ann for a great match. We’re excited to grab the victory and look forward to defending our title in the Spring.”
The tournament was enjoyed by all participants and proved to be a great success. While professionalism is paramount in its business relationships, CSP believes that cultivating a fun environment is an important part of its corporate culture. Plus, the event served as a great platform for cross-departmental team building by randomly selecting partners from varying departments.
