Our staff provided various food items to make 40 lunches that will support the Raleigh Rescue Mission’s emergency shelter guests.

The program entitled “Lunches to Go”, provides the overnight emergency shelter guests a healthy meal to take with them in the morning as they leave the shelter during the day.  Various organizations and individuals volunteer to provide bag lunches daily for the shelter’s homeless guests.  The Mission provides more than 140,000 meals annually through this program.

Over the past three weeks, CSP staff members donated 40 of each item necessary for the lunch bag.  The lunches included a sandwich, chips, fresh fruit, dessert, and a drink.  As an added touch, they also included a note of encouragement in each lunch bag.  The staff set up a workstation in the CSP Training Room during their lunch hour to prepare the lunches for delivery making 40 sandwiches and bagging the various food items and bottled water.

This volunteer project was selected by CSP’s Business Manager, Margie Figueroa to allow our staff members another opportunity to support a local, non-profit organization that is making an impact on our community.

“Volunteerism – whether it be of a monetary nature, in-kind, or of time and talent – all helps our community to thrive and flourish.  I feel that every little bit helps and I’m proud to see the staff at CSP continue to provide support whenever we can,” said Margie.

The Raleigh Rescue Mission is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving homeless citizens in the Raleigh, North Carolina area. More than 4,000 people are homeless in Wake County, and 2,736 of the Wake County Public School students are homeless.  Unfortunately, each winter more than 800 men, women, and children face Raleigh’s winter nights without shelter.  The Raleigh Rescue Mission provided more than 13,335 housing referrals and permanent housing placements in 2015.  They offer emergency overnight services for women, children, and single men. This admirable effort results in a life-changing recovery and rehabilitation for men and women. The Raleigh Rescue Mission also has an Adult Education Center that provides GED preparation. Their programs are designed to give these citizens the support they need to get back on their feet.
